Attention archers, the KMA practice range is closed until further notice! Too much of our natural barriers have been removed as part of the wildfire abatement and the board has deemed it unsafe for use. The field course is still open for use during the weekends while the project continues. Some photos and details will be in the upcoming newsletter and if you want to be involved in the fix, then please come to our next club meeting on Sept 5th!
The Huddart Park fire abatement work continues, but we have confirmation that the archery range will be open for this weekend, from 5pm on Friday (8/30/19) to 5pm on Monday (9/2/19).
Updates can be found at:
The work in Huddart Park for wildfire prevention has begun and the range is currently closed. The work is expected to take at least three weeks to complete. The Park’s website currently says the work will be Monday to Friday, but the latest word we have from the rangers is that the archery range will be closed for the duration of the project. We will have someone confirm it in person this weekend, but we will likely need to cancel the SJSU fundraiser, the free beginner lessons, the Sept Un-Vegas club shoot, and the delay the next work party. As the project goes on, we will keep members updated through our news release, Facebook page, and email to members.
Updates can be found at:
San Mateo County and Cal Fire are working on a major brush removal project along Kings Mountain Road including brush clearing with widening of the archery fire roads this summer. This impacts the Kings Mountain archery range as the area being cleared is from Highway 35 through Huddart Park to east of the Main Gate. There is single lane control near Woodside Road. Kings Mountain Road will be closed while the work is being done.
As of this time, a specific start / finish date is unknown. Also unknown are the exact dates that Kings Mountain road will be closed. As we get the information, we will endeavor to distribute the information via e-mail, the KMA website and Facebook. If you (KMA members) go to the range and find the road closed, please post it on Facebook: Kings Mountain Archers or/ Kings Mountain Archers Fan Club
or email email@example.com so the VP can notify the club members.
This is our signature event and is always well attended. The 3D in the Redwoods shoot is on Sunday, June 16 (Fathers Day). Many volunteers are needed throughout the day. You could: prepare or serve breakfast or lunch, assist in the parking lot in the morning, registration, raffle, general help, and/or CLEAN UP after the event is ended! It takes quite a number of people to have a well-run shoot. No previous experience necessary as there will be many KMA members who can explain what needs be done. Volunteers get a free breakfast and lunch.
We are also looking for members to contribute potluck items such as salads, drinks or desserts. Anything is welcome and appreciated! You could bring the items to the work party the day before, to the 3D shoot, or a time can be arranged for drop-off at Palomo Archery.
If you would like to volunteer or contribute a potluck item, please contact us one of the following ways.

The nominating committee is looking for nominees. Or you may nominate yourself! All positions are open for new officers. In October, we continue to take nominations both on and off the floor, and then in November, after a check for new nominations from the floor, the vote is taken. If you are interested in becoming a board member, or just would like to know more about the positions, come to the October Club meeting.
The results from our 2018 3D in the Redwoods shoot are available here.
Thank you to everyone who participating in the shoot and the many volunteers who helped prepare and run the tournament!
