How to Shoot Field Archery

Field archery consists of shooting 4 arrows at 28 targets. The target scores 5 for the spot, 4 for the middle ring and 3 for outer ring.

There are two styles of targets on a field round. The first is a field target. This target has a black 5 ring, a white 4 ring and a black 3 ring. Adults and young adults shoot this target from the white stakes, youth from the blue and cubs from the black.  Pee Wees shoot from the green stakes, or 1/2 the cub distance.

The second style is called a hunter round. This target has a white 5 ring, a black 4 ring and a black 3 ring. Adults and young adults shoot from the red stakes, youth from the blue and the cubs from the black. Pee Wees shoot from the green stakes, or 1/2 the cub distance.

The yellow stakes are for animal targets. Animal targets have a kill ring and a wound ring. You shoot up to three arrows. Stop shooting when you hit the animal. Score, 1st arrow hit, 20 for kill or 18 for wound - 2nd arrow hit, 16 kill or 14 wound, 3rd arrow hit, 12 kill or 10 wound.
